With over 20 years experience as a therapist, I completed my initial training and counselling qualification in 1994 and I have continued to work in therapeutic roles since. From  2007 I have worked exclusively in Private Practice.

I have extensive experience working with children, young people, adults, couples and organisations. Providing short-term to long-term therapy. Coaching, supervision and consultancy roles. I work from an Integrative approach, drawing from a variety of therapeutic disciplines and expertise.

My career pathway has led me to work extensively in the field of drug and alcohol addiction; working therapeutically with children from the age of five impacted by parental substance misuse, young people and adults with problematic drug and alcohol problems and partners and families affected by the  associated issues of addiction. From this direct experience I have gained a deep understanding of the nature of addictions. The impact on the individual and behaviours and common denominated factors associated with addiction. I was instrumental in the research and  development of crack and cocaine provision in Nottingham as well as providing specialist drug and alcohol training to professionals and organisations.

Over the last few years I have also seen an increase in clients accessing my service for pornography and sex addiction and working with clients to overcome obsessive and compulsive behaviours.

Organisations that I have worked for include;

  • The Children's Society.
  • Compass Drug Services.
  • Nottingham Rape Crisis,
  • The SARC (The Nottingham Sexual Assault Referral Center).
  • The Queens Medical Nottingham NHS Trust.

As Counselling Manager at the Nottingham SARC (Sexual Assault Referral Center), I was able to develop a quick access, short term counselling service for victims of sexual abuse, rape and sexual assault. This gave me a deep insight and understanding of rape and the impact of trauma and P.T.S.D. (post traumatic stress disorder). I also recognised the incredible difference that having access to a specialised counselling service made to clients, who were often struggling to cope and feeling suicidal.

From this wealth of experience and continued dedicated work within private practice, I have gained areas of expertise working with;

  • Drug and Alcohol Addiction.
  • Pornography and Sex Addiction.
  • Eating Disorders
  • Rape and Sexual Assault.
  • P.T.S.D
  • Pregnancy and Termination.
  • School and University Counselling..

I also have significant corporate and business experience providing coaching and consultancy to organisations and businesses. Delivering specialist training programs on personal and professional development and management. Supporting organisations through change, team building and stress management.

Through my professional and personal experiences I have developed a very unique mix of knowledge, skills, qualities and dedication towards my work.  I would describe myself as warm, creative, intuitive and genuine. I always strive for the highest quality of service for my clients.

I abide by the ethical guidelines set out by the BACP and UKCP Code of Ethics and Practice.
